Rain crashing down,
The thunder pounds
My heart’s beating right out of my chest

Sometimes you surprise me

Sometimes you forsake me

Say it one time the way you used to do
I know the years have come between us
But they didn’t erase my love for you

I just wish you would love me
like you already know
That I would leave you twisted

But you take me for granted

That I could disappear
I could go chasing for love
That would make me dance in the rain

The Journey

I’m running on empty,
rolling on four bald tires
Trying to fan the flames
Of one too many fires

From this lonely space I’m occupying
Can’t you see how hard I’m trying
To move on with all this pain.

Your pictures still hang on the wall
So I pretend that you’re still there

I sit and listen to those old songs
You used to sing when I was down
I can’t believe it’s been so long
Since I’ve seen you around

Mountain of Regret

Someday you’ll reach the top of the mountain of regret
You’ll look around and realize the destruction that you left
Like a hurricane that swirled around raining down the massive floods
You wiped us out, left us nothing, dragging us through the mud.

But looked around and
Realized you’re all alone

Fireworks

Do you remember-
We saw fireworks every night

Ten Little Fingers, Ten Little Toes

There were ten little fingers and ten little toes
And before I knew it, off he goes
Across the room into his Daddy’s arms.

This Is My End

I turn on the radio, oh my, why is she singing our song?
How did she know the words that would tell of this love that went wrong?
Why is everybody calling in saying “DJ won’t you play it again'”
Don’t they know, those are my tears, that’s my story, this is my end.

At The End of it All

You’ve lied so much you’ve forgotten the truth
Turned against everything I ever taught you
And for what? A cheap thrill? A quick high?
Don’t you know it costs more than a dime!

I broke my heart

It’s the whisper between lovers
The simple trade of a hidden glance
It’s the moonlight on the water
The footsteps of a long slow dance
And no one is there to bare witness
They can’t post it on Instagram
The only proof their love existed
Are tear-stained cheeks and goodbye frowns.
