A long time

by Tiffany Layne

It’s been a long night
Waiting for sleep
Wishing for dreams
Praying for peace
But I’m restless
My brain won’t slow down
So deep in the heartache
I’m afraid I might drown

It’s been a long week
Waiting for you
But the phone doesn’t ring
I don’t know what to do
I’m so confused
I knew your heart
But you’re gone again
And I’m falling apart

It’s been a long year
No closure in sight
I hate the silence
I’d rather fight
I thought I knew you
I’ve seen your soul
But the man that I knew
Would never let me go

Now it’s been a long time
Since I’ve seen your face
The sound of your voice
Echos through my space
And I can’t sleep
I can’t move on
All I do is wonder
Why are you gone?

It’s been a long night
Waiting for sleep
I miss you so much
I can’t even dream
And you know me
What a dreamer I’ve been
So you know I’m just waiting
Till you come back again….

  1. A love`song bitter`sweet . . .

  2. A melancholic piece offering comfort to others who can relate – beautiful

  3. One can feel the pain, and it hurts. Beautifully written young lady!

  4. I feel so very close to these words, a deep breath barely kept some tears in. It takes hard to relate to this and so to say i completely understand you!
