~ Lying Between the Lines ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

~ Lying Between the Lines ~

Your words lost luster;
That incandescent glow –
Felt, unseen…
Only a ladies heart
Is in the know
With bliss as this…that glow

Your words lost luster;
That incandescent glow-
“Once to deceive, never again believed”

Your letters sat unopened
Yellow ting from Marlboros smoke
Coffee stains, in similitude of tears,
Tears that never came
Did you think I’d cause myself pain?

Your words lost luster
That incandescent glow
I left your written ones in darkness.
