Sunlight Fades

by Dorinda Duclos

Standing by an open window
Soaking in the warmth and air
Breezing through my thoughts
And wondering just where

The hours have gone, passing by
Vanishing much too swiftly
No chance to get them back, you see
They left me here, too quickly

So I lean back and soak it in
As daylight turns to shade
Press my face against the glass
And watch the sunlight fade…

  1. A fine piece of writing, and a familiar place for so many poets . . . Thanks!

  2. Love this. Evening sunshine is so precious sometimes. A captured moment here!

  3. and who can hold their hand against the sky – stopping the sun?
