Waking Up

by Harry

Posted for Devyn.

Rays of light
Push through the night
To guide us
Every step we take
Through morning dreams
Each burning beam
Is never how
We choose to wake

We’d rather choose
To rest in peace
Than spend a lifetime
Counting down
Though waking up
On cloud nine’s great
There’s nothing
Quite like
Feet on ground

  1. That was a bit weird… my 17 mth old son is called Devyn! Not many around with that spelling! 🙂

  2. I’m actually a South African female but chose Devyn because of its meaning of “poet” and use of Y to express femininity. I wonder, is the poem wierd or just the connection?

If you enjoyed the poem. please leave a comment.
