Julie’s plate makes for a picture
with oranges waiting there
in the middle of our table
for a feast we’ve yet to share
and as the light was perfect
and the depth of field just right
I thought I’d take a picture
as they made a lovely sight

Back in the day this city
thrived with potteries everywhere
But now the bottle kilns are gone
though the history’s still there
Back in the day the smoke and smog
belched up and filled the sky
But now lie open brownfield sites
more pleasing to the eye
