Something Jack said

by Jem Croucher
"Are you still writing each day"
Jack said and I grinned
for when wouldn't I
like the blow of the wind
For winds are like breathing
I need them to live
and craft them to lines
the syntax to give
The writing my solace
my 'raison d'être'
and the rest you all know
with my poems right there

In my room

by Jem Croucher
In my room of a morning
when all around's still
and the world's waking up
and the birdsong is shrill
I can find inspiration
in the solitude here
to write words of wisdom
erudite and clear
and craft them to lines
to retain for a while
and maybe to publish
with the curl of a smile

Sufficient to please

by Jem Croucher
I am pleased with all my lavender
and though weeks yet til the chop
I've several plants now on the go
to bring a bumper crop

Still green of course yet now the shoots
here early into June
are good to see and promising
with all the flowers in bloom

New book, nice pen

by Jem Croucher
I have a new book
to write poems in
it'll last me three months or so
as I scribble away
writing words by the day
to capture what life has to show

And I have a nice pen
which does well for me
so I ensure I have refills to spare
as although contribution
it's no substitution
to write with a pen without care

These Words

by Jem Croucher

These words on a page
in my little book
I’ll return to again
for another good look
As I’ll craft them and
often I’ll rearrange
for the syntax to work
from a nuance or change

Of Writers and Readers III

by Jem Croucher

Part 3 of 3

Cathartic the writing
Long have I written
For with poetic voice
I am truly smitten
I write with a passion
as I want you to see
The zest of the life
I have around me

Of Writers and Readers II

by Jem Croucher

Part 2 of 3

Cathartic the writing
It’s something I do
for I love to find words
to share here with you
To metre and form
and syntax and rhyme
I’ll find ways to bring
them time after time

Of Writers and Readers 1

by Jem Croucher

Part 1 of 3

Cathartic the writing
the pen to the page
Words from the poet
the seer and sage
To capture life’s moments
like a photograph here
And bring to the reader
a little more cheer

My contentment

by Jem Croucher

I sit in the sunshine
the hours pass me by
just watching the sea
‘neath the blue of the sky
There’s no one else here
I’m completely alone
Just the sound of the sea
on a beach that’s my own

Wordsmith II

by Jem Croucher

My pen touches paper
words turn to form
A poem appears
which for me is the norm
For I am a wordsmith
creative for those
who’ll read what I’ve written
in poem and prose

Fortunate Fellow

by Jem Croucher

There’s a little dog barking
just in the sea
the gentle waves lapping
as he runs around free
People are paddling
and all having fun
Enjoying the warmth
of the full evening sun

Poetry comes alive
