THE WIND WHISPERS IN THE TREES THE LEAVES RUSTLE THEIR REPLIES
THE PIED PIPER WIND SPINS STORIES TELLING TEMPTING LIES
COME FLY AWAY COME FLY AWAY UPON MY GENTLE BREEZE LEAVE THE TREES COME BE WITH ME FAR, FAR FROM EARTHBOUND TREES
COME BE WITH ME COME DREAM WITH ME COME LOOK AT ALL YOU’LL SEE DRIFTING ON A GENTLE BREEZE IF YOU’LL COME WITH ME
THE WIND WHISPERS TO THE LEAVES AND THEY BELIEVE BUT THE AUTUMN WIND LIES

2 of 3 in a Jemverse mini-series
The seventh wave was building
I watched it gather height
Like a monster lurking out there
with teeth and awesome might
The breakers just before it
when they broke upon the shore
slipped quickly back into the mire
before coming back once more

1 of 3 in a Jemverse mini-series
Atmospheric was the sea today
with grey above the green
The waves in wind tumultuous
amongst the biggest seen
The sun shone like a diamond
painting silver ‘neath the grey
as on the beach we wandered
on this very windy day

Grasses bob, the trees press, expand; press, expand as lungs.
Loyal speaker, who spake the first murmurings – whistler at the window.
What’s that? Faces stack, knotholes of wisps in the darkness,
agape and wakeful just as I, truculent foreheads, lined lips, I’ve a wife
who died, is she there? Another unholy moaner outside, watchful.

Veins of auburn and burnt orange
Adorn the wooded mountain side.
A dense mist shrouds the valley
Hanging so low as to blur
The boundary between cloud and fog.

Where the wind goes
So I will go.
If Harmatten calls,
So I depart. The Sahara a cradle so I shall lay.
Should the Westerly
Steal me outright, and collide me with
A forest, a field, a turbine blade
