At one time or another we all put up walls around our heart
Maybe to protect what we feel we have with a special one
Perhaps it is to shield from pain we feel headed our way
Think what type of wall do you have when you are done.

At times stubbornness keeps us from seeing
Maybe I was that way for too long a time
Maybe it was just part of my selfish being.

thick smoke in our eyes
fenced by convictions

The Mental Wall

I am glad for the distance
A barrier of separation
To find a fine balance
Between thought, emotion

I am glad for individuality
A need for loneliness
To struggle out of duality
Be clean, attain holiness

Behind The Wall

Built from whatever was needed
For a purpose reason might demand
They protect, direct, surround or hide
Not always do we know why they stand.

There might be a wall to hold special names
A remembrance of those no longer among us
A moment of silence and a time to reflect
Memories and places for others to discuss.
