Little yellow seat

There’s a little yellow seat
on the shingle near the shore
just above the tideline
so I know just what it’s for

For its position faces eastward
so down there early morn
you’d see the sunrise glory
with the coming of the dawn

Like snow

Up here at thirty thousand feet
the clouds look just like snow
and I can see for miles and miles
when looking down below

We’re high above mid-England’s green
and the sky is tinged with blue
The sun is out there somewhere
but it’s not within my view

Driving home

The nicest thing when driving home
when the traffic is quite slow
is the view we have of beach and sea
(It’s comforting, you know)

Terracotta Rooftiles

We found the historic centre
by the Douro riverside
Where wine merchants rolled their barrels
and their ageless trade they plied
Then rode the new funicular
high over Eiffel’s bridge
to the magnificent cathedral
up there on the ridge

Towering like a monolith
up into the sky
Brighton’s i-360
is really, really high
Dwarfing the remains
of the ruinous West Pier
it stands alone just waiting
for the summer to appear

Nighttime falls across the Solent

The Weald

 

Up on the ridge of the South Downs in Sussex
the view is especially fine
And the good thing for us is that it’s really quite close
So we’re up there time after time

England’s green and fair
our inspiration today
from St Martha’s Hill

Travelling

 

Travelling to my office
Every day upon the train
I get to see the Sussex hills
and smile at them again
Their undulating rise and fall
The many fields of green
Quite the best view, I would say
That I have ever seen

Looking out again to sea
The horizon’s far today
And I wish that I was out there
In this fine Sussex bay

Battersea Skyline

Battersea’s being eaten
But it will arise again
Scaffolding surrounds it now
As viewed here from the train

Tranquility

 

It’s a bench with a view
Not far from home
A place I will come
To be on my own

Kaleidoscope Vision

As children we viewed life differently
Like the view we had from a kaleidoscope
Always full of adventure and even mystery
Leaving us in awe and filled with hope.

As we mature we can still have that time
Always seeing things with a changing view
As the turn of the kaleidoscope would shape
We can see the same things as something new.
