Little things II

by Jem Croucher
Big things they may never come
but little things are free
and all we have to do each day
is open eyes to see

Encapsulating all that life
gives each of us each day
to celebrate the little things
in every single way

Make Me Believe

by Renwick Berchild

It is astonishment only that holds me;
you brandished your weakness, and tried to slay me,
and now you are bent in your knees.

I go through everyday

Turning me into a beautiful butterfly

From the cocoon I’ve been.

The Woodland

by Renwick Berchild

I am inferior. Let me say it.

Let it roll on my tongue, get pressed to my inner cheek, let it
fall out to the earth, let the solar rays shine on it,
the rain hammer over it,
the soil encapsulate it,
have it arise.

My Friend and Her Anxiety

by Renwick Berchild

Over and over on a Ferris wheel, she will not come down,
have her meal, will not admit that she is afraid
that the contraption revolving around her heart may one day die.

She’d rather sit there, all hours, observe the heights
and the tops of towers, reach her fingertips up as she drops
to brush the illusions, feel the felt and wool of a god’s eyelash
she dreamt of the night before.

I Thirst

I have tasted of the world’s wine,
And yet I thirst;
I have gorged myself on earth’s pleasures,
And yet I hunger.

Life Sucks Sometimes

the flow slows and sludges like tar
and blood pounds and throbs in the ear
the eyes and ears search for – something

The Beasts of Belltown

by Renwick Berchild

This fire is cold, cold as the north wind blows
over the Belltown towers, blinking in their dead lights.

Beasts of Pacific silver, crowns of wire and iron bone,
cool jaded life, dispensing profane alleluias, alleluias, allelu,
forsook from the holies, allelu-lu-luia.

Believe In You

by markfahmy

believe

If you ever believe in anything so strongly,
then I hope you do believe in you.
And dismiss all the shit that was said to you, wrongly,
along with that damaging self-talk you tell yourself too.

Unto the Hills

by Miriam Hurdle

grand-teton2

–  Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1

Where do I seek in times of need?

Not with my head down, looking at my feet,

But gaze up high into the sky,

Where the source of strength I meet!

Strong Women

by Judy E Martin

When it’s time to’ man up’

We are told to ‘grow  a pair’

Balls will make us stronger

But that’s not very fair!

Why are they so special?

To make us act so tough

In those awful moments

When life gets really rough

Take Care of Each Other

Whether there be Father or Mother,
Take care.

You will collide with each other.
You will inflict wounds and be wounded.

Happy Mother’s Day

by Jem Croucher

Version 2

An early rose on Mother’s Day
appropriately there
exuding beauty in its form
combined with love to share
Fragrance subtle, petals frail
A heart concealed, yet strong
with influence and calming
for an early springtime song

The Walk

by Venkat

She took me on a walk
And I walked so, on her mind

For moments, it felt water
As I sunk with stones I carried
In my feathered heart
Till I flapped those limbs
To hold edges, back in the eye

Always there

by Jem Croucher

I’m pleased the sea is always there
because whenever I’m in need
I can take a wander by its shore
and feel instantly relieved
For no matter what life throws at me
as it does from time to tine
The sea acts as a comforter
and makes me feel just fine

~ Scars and All

by A. L. O'Prunty

Dedicated to all who have suffered the cruelty of “the bullies”

I watched

Recalled

Painfully remembered –

Tossing rocks

In the form of wounding words

The shy little girl sat crying

Questioning her worth

Her very existence…

So Special

the remaining half look up, above
