Skyfeathers

by Jem Croucher
I looked up early evening
to see feathers in the sky
wispy there within the blue
floating slowly by

And it was whimsical right there
cathartic I would say
relaxing and just gazing
at the tail end of a day

So there I stayed eyes upward
as the evening took a hold
and the sunshine started fading
to the sunset with the gold

Beach IV

by Jem Croucher
The beach is a landscape
when the tide is this low
the sky big and wide
with the shingle below
the water far distant
with rocks in between
with familiar seaweed
we've so often seen
yet it still brings excitement
for adventure and more
which over the years
we have used this beach for

Gull

by Jem Croucher
And high above I climb into the blue
from down below from whence I flew
admiring the unspoilt view
white clouds above me now

My wingspan wide I'll hover there
spiralling down without a care
humans they'd be best aware
as they below me bow

My name is Gull and I am proud
synonymous my cry aloud
heard above the throng and crowd
my presence to endow

Big Sky IV

by Jem Croucher

The pink up in the evening blue
divided by the grey
in a big sky above the field
on this November day

It fills me with a sense of awe
magnificence right there
the heavens just above my head
with which none can compare

The Big Black Storm

by Renwick Berchild

Windstorms have battered my life for days, treble the rain,
tintinnabulation on the streets, a highway roaring like a sea of heaves
of grimness, mornings glamsy, murdered pink some dawns, strewn
with hoods and caps and umbrellas, and the grey swallows up
the goldfinches’ wings, the stellar jay sky, it’s hidden somewhere above.

Words about Seagulls

by Jem Croucher

I have written of seagulls
(Well, I would, wouldn’t I?)
As, living in Sussex
you’ll oft hear their cry

They’re as much of a part
of a life by the coast
as the people who live here
The sea playing host

Clarity III

by Jem Croucher

And the light this morning
emulates a clarity anew
Captured on the coast road
as I pass with clear sea view
Pastel pinks and subtle blue
Oranges and yellow
confirming absolutely that
I am a lucky fellow

till the sun arrives, pink glint and shine
off buildings -faces in the darkened

Tale of a Bird

Up I fly
above the clouds,
but the clouds fly
above me too…

Off I go,
yet I don’t,
that’s the beauty
of an edge-less home!

EXQUISITE PERFORMANCE

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The performers start to gather
ready for the show
eagerly I take my seat
in a balcony row

from the darkened wings
I hear them
warming up their song
anxiously I wait for
“Prelude To The Dawn”

Night Sky

by kim blades, writer

Tonight the sky’s darkness

is brightened by a moon bright and full

that quite overwhelms the sprinkled stars

whose continuous twinkle on the Milky Way

is tonight a softer, more wistful glimmer.

Unto the Hills

by Miriam Hurdle

grand-teton2

–  Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1

Where do I seek in times of need?

Not with my head down, looking at my feet,

But gaze up high into the sky,

Where the source of strength I meet!

A cracking way to start the day

by Jem Croucher

20160812_074720

A cracking way to start the day
riding along the beach
The sea deep blue reflecting sky
and there in easy reach

Part of me would love to stop
jump in and have a swim
But I really need to get to work
and get some hours in

Skies Folded

Skies I folded, into my heart
Yet clouds buzzed, as bees do

Yet shadows curled, as creepers do
