I wonder if maybe
But then again why?
Is there a reason

Head down
Feeling small
Counting his uphill climb
Imagining how painful

Worry about me later,
for barbarians are coming over the hills,

And dismiss all the shit that was said to you, wrongly,
along with that damaging self-talk you tell yourself too.

Mirrors reflect
what we wish to see
Mirrors tell
of other people we’re dying to be
Mirrors speak
what we’d like to hear
Mirrors hide
what we want to see disappear

An Extraordinary and Exquisite gem I am.
Authentic and Unblemished am i meant to be.
Treasured and Irreplaceable am I meant to be.

There is a pressing need
Of overkill, to spread
The self so thin
We pass through walls.

Was it my choice,
As a boy, to be this way;
To wake up every day,
Speak my mind –
Say what I say?
Am I just an actor
In another’s play?

Who is this brazen girl
I see in front of me,
who loves to speak her mind,
wears her heart on her sleeve?
Who is this crazy woman
who seems utterly lost,
yet gathers herself in time,
no matter what the cost?
Who is this sexy lady
so confident of her body,
as if it has no flaws
and nothing to be sorry?

Ode to Simple Things
I want to smoke my cigarette with Johnny Depp
on the patio of an Irish café, discussing how his children are doing,
if I would like another beer,
what he will do with his newest role in my newest movie,
and other simple little things.
I want to be confident in knowing
there is absolutely no one watching me change
in the locker room
and laughing into their shirts
so I can’t hear.
