It’s midweek and I’m on holiday

and enjoying every day

as rest-respite is needed

now and then from the foray

Five days to think of nothing else

but enjoyment just for me

doing stuff I love to do

most of it here for free

Holiday VI

Five days off, I can scarce believe it
it’s been a tough few weeks
The hours I’ve worked
have been berserk
few troughs but many peaks

Relaxation guaranteed
the most I’ll make of this
There’ll be some sounds
and walks with hounds
in five days of pure bliss

all can see as it’s hung high

as in relaxation here
I breathe deep and simply am

and with gusto seize the day

Life

I love what I do
don’t get me wrong
I’m in quite a lovely position
As forty years done
with the grief and the fun
I enjoy in this time of transition

I put in the hours
use my mind to the full
enthusiastically driven
For the passion is there
as all are aware
from the help that I’ve often given

Last day of the hols

And here I have just one more day
to spend and use in my own way
I’ll lie in for a little then
write some words with my new pen
over coffee with some toast
and Marmite maybe (make the most)

Our new Alexa, music plays
on this the last of holidays
A playlist of my favourite songs
to which I’ll dance and sing along
Then maybe I will play a game
Red Dead Redemption 2, the same

Someone said it’s Thursday

Someone said it’s Thursday
Well that’s just fine by me
‘Cos it means I’ve still got several days
in actuality
And Christmas is notorious
for loosing track of time
I’ve no idea what hour it is
But really, that’s just fine

Fridays

Fridays come and Fridays go
and most of them are great
But today’s an extra special one
Now here, well worth the wait

Had a week off

Had a week off
didn’t do very much
just listened to music
and reading and such

Tidied a bit
sorted some stuff
and to be perfectly honest
that was enough

Time II

Somedays have legs, they run away
I blink and it’s the end of day
I’ve done my best through frack and fray
But still I wish for more

Three weeks

I’ve turned the Blackberry off
and my bag is stowed away
as I’ll not be thinking ‘work’
for a three-week holiday
Part of it will be abroad
and part spent by the sea
relaxing in the sunshine
where I really love to be

It’s great to sit out in the sunshine
and feel its warmth upon my skin
Especially when, time on my hands
there’s no need to go back in

Friday afternoon coffee

Sitting out in the sunshine in Shoreham
At Tom Foolery, mid of the day
with coffee that comes straight from heaven
watching people go on their way
This is the way to spend Friday
not really doing that much
Just sunning ourselves and passing the time
with idle chit-chat and such

Salt cave

Sitting in a salt cave
Breathing deep the air
Relaxing for an hour
In the quietness there
Feeling natural remedy
Take away the wheeze
My laboured breath reducing
Gently here with ease

My calming

I went down to the shoreline
on a summer’s late eve
one thing on my mind
to find some reprieve
The calm, lapping waters
invited me in
so I paddled a while
and developed a grin

Evening waits

 

Evening bides its time for me
Welcome with an easy chair
And, parting in the early hours
It’s always waiting for me there

Good times

Wind is up and cooling
But it’s lovely in the sun
as I sit here on the wall and write
now my day is done

Forty winks

 

Caught myself some forty winks
or maybe thirty-nine
I wasn’t really counting
as I was snoozing at the time
However, it was just enough
to recharge my tiring mind
Close my eyes and drift away
relax, and just unwind

The summer sun returned today
for us to lay
relaxing and

Holiday (tri-haiku)

 

On holiday now
today I will consider
the meaning of joy

A contemplation
of little things that make up
doing nothing much

Fully relaxed now
today I am one with life
and I lack nothing

Very nice

 

Very nice to have the time
Bake some bread which turned out fine
Sit a while in the sunshine
On my Friday off

All I need

 

Sometimes I can just escape
when I’m sitting on a train
Travelling to another business meeting
in the sunshine or the rain
I have my music and a playlist
and that is all I need
Watching the world rush by outside
whilst I travel on at speed

Heaven is a warm
afternoon in April sun
leaving work behind

A manic day, rushing about
More emails in than emails out
Early start and finish late
Not denting much my full workstate

Went to the barn on a nice sunny day
Had scones with apricot jam
Purchased a book I’d not read before
Took pictures of cows made of can

Hot cup of tea and comfortable slippers
