Meadowglow

In the meadow there are flowers
but in the grasses growing tall
the vibrant red of poppies crown
and out-manoeuvre all

The daylight fades as sunset comes
and glowing through the trees
the wonder of this moment
brings me falling to my knees

Crimson the blanket
Warm and crisp and crunchy soft
To rest in Autumn

Acetaldehyde Dehydrogenase Deficiency

Corralled in the narrow alley
An incalculable mass of humanity
Drunkenly bumbles and stumbles along,
Skipping in hiccuping rhythm,
Belting (and belching) drinking songs,
With the flow of the fleshy river.

These berries red, they are so bright
and vibrant in the sun
Resplendent in their colour
now December has begun
They grow here in the same place
that I see them every year
And never fail, I’ll have you know
to bring a sense of cheer

The Color of Love

Red is the color of love? I say, No!

Red One

Seven colours, seven days
beginning here with red
The first one in the rainbow
So, forging right ahead

Here’s to its long wavelength
with pigment deep and warm
Just like that in the poppy
Perfection made to form

Red III

A little bit of red came
to my driveway where it stayed
and stood alone, magnificent
with beauty there displayed
So gorgeous was its colour
that it brought a little tear
Vivid and resplendent
at this lovely time of year

Mars

Hot slap slips loose the animal,
night jasmine burns in Asia, the Isle of Man
sinks into the Irish Sea, Solomon Islands
grow legs and head north
to eat Okinawa, chop every cherry bloom
into kindling
to feed the storm.

Surrounded by Autumn
I saw red and a tear trickled
But no malice here
No discontent
For here beauty’s extravagance
in simplicity lay
Inspiring a tear
for the red of summer
spilled at my feet

Kaleidoscope

i made one as a child of ten
with tinted blues and mellow greens
heartfelt reds
and everytime i twisted it there would be
a miniature crash; a universe of patterns
