time, a marble

in our tender hands

hands held enough, to hold

In The End

this path, of golden pebbles

has thorny copper leaves

in the end

this path, of a crushed heart

has a love laid, of fine arms

in the end

Makeover

We took a week long holiday
and whilst we were away
Our lovely children trashed our house
‘Disgraceful’ you might say
But you’ve not heard the half of it
for what they planned to do
was a complete and total makeover
to create a home brand new

C’est la vie

I got to thinking
Life’s too short
for anything else
save that I ought
to do and think
and be about
and nothing else
there is no doubt

It shows the wear
Of Love and
Treasured memories,
Slowly decaying
But no velveteen rabbit transformation
Awaits,
Just the rag heap.

Gain

These riches
These feelings, I sailed on
Of solid gold, held so, these eyes
To gloat in the gains
Created in bricks of sweat
Of yesterdays

Something in mind

 

Had in mind to buy a present
But although I shopped around
My heart just wasn’t in it
And nothing suitable was found

The month of summer solstice
Midsummer’s day and Thursday’s child
Is here at last, I’m pleased to say
So on this day I smiled

as moments present, flutter their wings
shiver they not from icy past shadows
cringe not ever from fires tall, to come

Hope dipped baby steps,

past approaching, lifting the

veil off the present

As one opens pages of history
