A book is a thing

by Harry

One syllable poem: Poetry challenge

Submitted by Gradmama2011

A book is a thing
to love for years
for age does not count.
If I have books, I think,
there is all that I need.

A friend, some fun, a place
to hide from wind and rain
in a posh nook or plain den…
A book could not care less—
who we are or where we live
or how we use our Minds.

In my gift

by Jem Croucher

One syllable poetry challenge

20160726_175452

Time spent on the beach
where there in my short reach
I can but learn and teach
As it is in my gift

Time spent by the sea
a place I love to be
where oft I am quite free
For it is in my gift

Time Machines

by HemmingPlay

empty-cardboard-boxes-871284454700h9dU

Ordinary things be time machines,
Containing important futures.
Surprising links to before-times.

A cardboard box that held a cheap microwave,
This morning.
Taking scissors to slice along the seam of the bottom,
Pulling to break the hold the staples had,

Breaking it down…

Poetry challenge: Tongue twiste

Basil a blind bulldog
blatantly but boldly
barked and bit bystanders
bending backwards.
Brian the beggar bit back
biting Basil boldly, but
Belligerently, beggaring
the bad bulldog

Goes in the Rose

by 50djohnson

Poetry challenge: tongue twister poem.

My nose aglow knows if in the rose below it goes and froze and goes and blows flowing, blowing, growing shows my glowing nose not to “goes” in the rose!

Poetry challenge: Tongue Twister Poetry

by Harry

A Tongue Twister poem is made up of lines/verses that are hard to say when read aloud by using similar consonant sounds in succession (use of alliteration). In other words, the poem ties your tongue into knots. This form does not require end or internal rhyme. It can be any length you want.

Reflection

Poetry Challenge: Easter poem

crown_of_thorns

Shadow of a crown of thorns
high up on the wall
held there in a flickering light
sweetest thing I saw
Around me people quietly prayed
the Spirit, moving, felt
a whispered word, a silent prayer
shared as people knelt

Burning quietly in the night

The Christmas Star

by 50djohnson

Poetry challenge: Christmas poem.

Looking up in the black night sky, gazing upon the Christmas Star

What do you wonder, what do think about the shepherds from afar?

What  did they feel when the star appeared above their barn that night?

Did hearts race with excitement when angels filled the sky with light?

Kings bringing gifts to the King of Kings, before Him they bowed low.
