No Coincidence

by Miriam Hurdle

nc-diving1

We went to North Carolina right after Hurricane Katrina.

Hurricane Rita was lingering, but seemed to be leaving.

The hotel we booked was flooded and closed.

“Go inland seven miles to find another room to book.”

We drove by fallen trees, flooded streets and all the windows that broke.

I tried to convey to you a message,

You seemed to listen, mind far away,

You responded to me, but it’s your assumption.

No, that’s not what I wanted to say.

Atlantic Surge

by Jem Croucher

IMGP0523

Outside our porthole
down on deck one
the waves surge against us
and it’s brilliant fun
Because sometimes the sky
we can see as we oughta
whilst the very next moment
we’re all underwater!

Breath

Our capacity to breathe is not a right, it’s a gift.

When lungs are attacked by disease,

Some may say, “Why me?” but “Why not?”

The clean air is a gracious creation for us.

Kafka on Wheels

Cormac McCarthy

Small disclaimer: I don’t feel bitter about my late mother, not like McCarthy down below there. I had nothing to regret, or at least nothing worth remembering.

But we’re always told how glorious it would be to meet all those who’ve ‘gone on before.’

Or we’re told often enough….

Well, no. Hold up there for a second, mythical platitudes person.

Solitude

by markfahmy

sometimesAlone

Sometimes alone is where all your answers lie;
Sometimes in the wilderness of your thoughts, you’re no longer shy;
Sometimes deep in the silence of solitude, there you find your soul;
Sometimes in the midst of your own space, you get to realise your whole.

RsOeCaK ~ Their love story

by Sandeep

Since time immemorial,
Rock sees Sea,
Silently, longingly,
Sea rocks Rock,
Violently, lovingly.

Countless embracements,
Each lasting just a tick,
Each separation
Painful as a prick.

You

by Harry

.
untitledYY

Before “it”,
You were in your world,
And were fine,
At least because, you were in it.
Till “it” ,
I was in mine and fine in it.

There has been,
No thought about you,
No contact,
Since our last meet,
And, we met only a few times,
Before that meet.
