I’ve been writing

by Jem Croucher
I've been writing now for ages
my pen just can't keep still
and I'm certain that will be the case
for more years yet until
I've lost the plot entirely
and the words, dried up, are done
(I'll rue the day) but then accept
that day has finally come

But I'm pleased to say for now at least
I still write every day
as life it still continues
and has plenty more to say
So that's what I use my words for
to paint the life I see
in all its many nuances
as it evolves 'round me

To melt in the love of shine.

My pen is shaking

I am agitated

My notepad is topsy-turvy

With the struggle

I revere the most

In this bloomy air.

The confusion relies

On my pen

Am I writing sense

Where are the words

What come before

And after.

Duty and the poet

by Jem Croucher

DSCN2189

With daily ink, my heart and soul
flows free across the page
Capturing moments of my life
formed into assemblage
I cannot stop, lay pen to rest
or beauty fail to see
My duty as a poet bound
by idiosyncrasy

Life in Backspaces

Life, made from paper and pen
When nerves tingled, a century back
Before keyboards invented by men
Where thoughts ran as trains on track
