Vibrant these oranges
capture the light
looking lovely for photos
and my appetite
But for this still life
I have to confess
that the picture you see
is one orange less

Seven colours, seven days
Orange follows suit
The second in the rainbow
it really is a beaut

It’s right there in a sunset
at the end of a long day
A testament to wonder
in every single way

Mock orange

The mock orange in my garden
has blossomed now it’s May
And its fragrance is abundant
at any time of day
Especially of an evening
when it fills the air with scent
And I stand there for a moment
Breathing in with good intent
