Resolve

In the silent refraction of a New Year sun
as slowly in the thin Eastern sky
its distant yellow rays struggled,
January arrived to a silent world

Almost as if in slow motion, life passed
as through my window with early eyes
a perception of a whispered promise
echoed across a vacant sky

And the curl of a smile gathered pace
calming like a summer breeze
spoke long vicissitudes
with wisdom to a sleepy morning

January first of twenty-three
hip hip hip hooray
a brand new year to celebrate
right here on New Year's Day
And we welcome it together
with anticipated hope
the fortitude of eons
mechanism there to cope
The resilience of humankind
to rise above and prosper
whatever this year brings our way
a happiness to foster

Emerging from long slumber
fresh, I breathe in the first day
and, calling aloud her name to the winds
claim this New Year's day for hope.
For here is positivity -
anticipatory emotion.
Yet, no insipidity here
as this is a cherished agency;
one that clings to the soul and sings
long and proud and true

To the New Year a promise
here made to ones self
to remain true to form
and with all of my wealth
to capture from life
one day at a time
its essence in words
and transpose to line

A first in many ways today
a new decade for one
Twenty-twenty makes a start
now twenty-teens are done
First of the year and of the month
First poem of the year
and of the decade, come to that
(This much to me is clear)
So here’s a little ditty
the first of more to come
from January through December
until this year is done

Now with December in full fling
the year draws to a close
a decade ending in two weeks
swiftly the time it goes
Twenty twenty vision clear
I wonder, will that be
when in a fortnight New Year comes
I guess we soon will see

White

In white there’s essence of the new
January starts the year afresh
As we from hibernation
awaken from our winter rest

Let’s begin anew, you and I; let’s decide
that the world is not meant for us, that meadows
beneath glass lakes, and mountains that move
and speak, and lions and elk that are of human
physique rule over us, but tend to lax off
their supreme duties; that you and I aren’t

Wonderment shakes my hand, and escorts me down the spiral stair.
I am eager to meet the ghosts and echoes and shadows that linger there.
I am wistful, for what I leave behind, but gentle past waves farewell;
I am letting all completed and unfinished projects rest upon the mantle.

as birds into the sky
Gentle, as flowers bend

Today is the last time I will sign my posts 2015.  So many many things happened in this passing year;  wonderful beautiful moments woven together with terribly tragic moments creates in me sensations of starkness, like some fantastic loudly painted mural that perhaps only Picasso might have created.  I will remember it as a year of rapid and impetuous change and as the year I published my first book of waka.  I will remember it as the year I made many wonderful friends and felt the warmth of a loving family both real and virtual.  I will remember the desolation of death that visited twice in a few short months.

My absence

I have not been able to be at any of my blogs from the 27/12/14 because I came down with a bad dose of the flu which hit me for six.
