Erosion

knowledge pours over me

ice cold waterfall that leaves me

stripped bare

raw

pieces of the woman I used to be

washed away in the relentless flow

illusion of control and mastery

Love and laughter, forgotten faces
But the memory of Daddy standing tall

While leaning against the kitchen wall

Woke me with great surprise

Tears of mourning, laughter filled my eyes
Recalling his polished black Oxford shoes

Immortal

The smallest candle
Can light countless other wicks
And live forever.

Forget – Haiku and Tanka

forget rain and storms
here’s a moment of sunshine
November morning

Heavy are hearts

Laden with loss;

When Death walks in

Loved ones pay the cost

For Elsa

the iron weight of your skeletal frame
in my trembling arms, as we pulled you
down from that horrible hideous hearse
my eyes were burning but i wept no tears
we held you wrapped tightly in white sheets
words were few and far between, and terse

Mourning

Mourning is never like scraping off a dirty dish

With specks of spaghetti meat sauce that

Resists only a dab of dish soap,

 It is never like licking your favorite ice cream

To the very center with no regrets of getting a few

Dirty spots

Mourning coffee

All the worlds sorrow
Today is kept
For one family
To bear…not to share
In the shaded bitterness
Of my suger-free
mourning Coffee
I numbly sip, sniff and stir
