A Mother’s Day Meal Fit For A Queen Limerick

I am a foodie and I belong to many FB food groups including a few with names specific to the pandemic. I know all about #stayhomeandcook and #stayhomeandeat. I have done lots of both and written a few limericks about it. I love seeing all the creativity and beautiful presentations of everyone cooking while staying home. It was especially great to see all the effort that went into cooking for Mother’s Day. I know that everyone will agree that being a mother may be the most essential job needed during these uncertain times. Job well done everyone.

A Mother’s Dreams

Your dreams do not predict the future,
Be relieved they process the past
So you can function this morning.
Your fear still burns
The sweet blood in your veins,
It contaminates your heart.

A Prayer to Mother (for Mom)

Mother
Open my soul to the music of the wind.

“The Virgin Mother
Blesses you
Carries you
Supports you
Feel her golden gaze.
One breath

One Prolonged Blast (for Grammy)

4 to 6 second pull on the ship’s whistle
Announces to others in the harbor
The romance of sea:

“Underway! Shift colors”

The Ensign now flaps from the mast.
Jack folded into a tight triangle
Stowed away until:

“Moored! shift colors.”

I remember once when I was a child

I skinned my left knee and mom called it mild.

There was a moment there when I wondered

when life was lucky when then I wandered.

Glistening Years

With curly locks, toys, dolls, blocks
You hold me near
I hear that beating rhythmic flow
Your love
Will never stop, never go

With braided hair, sweet embraces, garden picnics
Sun-filled yards, glistening tears
You sing to me
A song to laugh, to dance
Over scrapes, beyond shadowy fears

To My Mom

She’s in Guam while I’m in the Philippines 🙂
