Are You Afraid of the Dark?

To those who fight the monsters
That lurk beneath the bed,
Who feign the fear of what they hear
In dark, they dare to tread.

They brave the creaking floorboards,
the attics full of bats,
Descend the flight of dim-lit stairs,
To dank dark dens of rats.

Boogeyman Dreams

A murder of crows takes flight,
Cawing their insanity into the abyss of the night.
They wake the monster of madness; it rears its bristly head.

Inside My Head

Nowhere is safe,
I’ve heard it said.
One place is safe–
Inside my head.

… and the broken

I defy you,

Or you …

Any of you who are

Capable, still,  of feeling;

Not robbed of sensitivity

By society’s cavalries …
