Buried deep inside
In a corner dark
Lurks the monster
Trying to rip my soul apart.

Monster Noises

My foot pounds hard upon the floor.
A hand grabs on the bedroom door.
The voice says low, “The monster’s here!”
There’s scrambling feet and giggling fear.

Deep, deep in his dark, bright eyes
sits the ice and snowy death
of his past.
The deeds he’d done
the wrongs he’d spread

The Monster’s Return

My little daughter goes to sleep.
I hope that monster doesn’t creep
Back to her bed to say, “Hello!”
She tells me that it’s wicked, though.

The Beast of Bodmin Moor

The experts will tell you I just don’t exist

But amongst the locals, sightings persist.

 

A cunning feline, a non-native cat

I live on my wits and I’m primed to attack.

Nail the mewling monster to the door

With red-hot iron dogs and

Be not gentle with the sledge

That drives them home

Through bone and sinew.

If it pleads, tries to explain;
