THE FIRST SUNRISE OF JANUARY

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The First Sunrise Of January
Always Leaves Me Wondering
What Lies Ahead
Just Out Of Sight
Over The Horizon
In My Tomorrows

And Then It Leads My
Mind Back Over The
Last Year And
Way Back When Too

Recalling
Moments And Memories
And What If’s And
Might Have Beens

Things That Never Were
But Could Have Been
And The Happiness
That Was And
The Blessings
That I Have

Regrets
And Bittersweet
Memories Escape
Their Cell

Deep In My Heart
On The First
Sunrise Of January
Before Being
Escorted Away

Sometimes The Heart
And Soul
Need To Reflect,
Remember And Wonder,
So They Will Be
More Grateful,
And Happy During
The Coming Year

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The Demarcation,
The Ending And Beginning,
One Year Passing Away Into History
As The New Year Is Born

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The “First Time”
You Get To Make An X
On The New Year’s Calendar

A THIEF IN THE NIGHT

by thereluctantpoet

By Jeanne Marie – Women Who Think Too Much.Wordpress.Com
And Charles Robert Lindholm – The Reluctant Poet

Sleep Eats My Hours
Like A Starving,
Desert Demon,
It Swiftly Steals
And Devours
My Most Precious
Moments In Seconds

I Awaken Each Morning
To Find Years And Years
Have Slowly
Slipped Away
In A Silent,
Unconscious
And Addictive State
Of Amnesia

Perched on iron flowers

by Jem Croucher

Perched on iron flowers
they swoop and flutter by
as, quiet behind my window
these little birds I spy
Still, I hold my camera
my pleasure cup to fill
to capture this fine moment
my breath, a whisper still

Soulshine

by Jem Croucher

What is it that’s conducive
to a poet’s mind?
The impetus that’s needed
before it can unwind?
That moment inspiration
into words flow from the pen
and beauty spills to paper
to catch the moment when…

The day

by Jem Croucher

A welcome embrace I gave to the day
as it crept up and grabbed hold of me
Reciprocate it returned with a smile
edged with grace and a fragility

Devotion

by Jem Croucher

Up upon the Sussex hills
on Friday afternoon
I spied a sheep with new born lamb
the timing, opportune

As in my hand I happened
to have a camera with a zoom
allowing me to get in close
and for a moment be attune

Black Swan

by Jem Croucher

20160927_072907

Early morning in St James’
A black swan came swimming by
Reflected in the water
as if to beautify
It was a peaceful moment
London slumbered all around
and in the stillness of the hour
I could barely hear a sound

4 Thimbles (Poems to Snack On)

by Renwick Berchild

Rewind

Blazer moonwalks through the doorframe
tipping the vase of marigolds
upwards, the crystal gathering
sharp spatters and supple petals,
placing them neatly
into predestined
grooves.

Birds

by Venkat

Thoughts, they come
In plumes of green and blue
Thoughts, they squeal
In voices shrill, in songs sweet
Thoughts, they touch
Whispers soft, scratches hard
Thoughts, they hold
Moments of wonder, pauses sad

A Station Bench

by Emily Page

Empty station. A train from the City leaving.
Not a soul is there. Just you and me.
Arm in arm and hand in hand,
We weave our way to the other platform.

Moments Wee

by Venkat

Dedicated to someone who works hard in kitchen and makes things happen

Memory born of moments wee
Enfolds me in soft pleasure
Touching me to sense at leisure
Wrapped love bits on life’s agony

Fibonacci: Moments

Dull

Dead

Moments

Without you

Hands empty, heart full

Your absence touches me again

Wrapping me up with memories of togetherness
