Every night I count my blessings
and I‘m thankful for each one
’cause I know I‘ve not been promised
I‘ll see the rising sun
Every moment is so precious
every day is special too
but the memories that I treasure most
have all been made with you
You are the love I‘ve longed for
You are my dream come true
and I know each day
that I am Blessed
when I wake up next to you

Poetry challenge: Valentines poem.
.
I’ve been smitten; there’s no way I’d mistake it
And I don’t know how you will take it.

Charles Robert Lindholm – The Reluctant Poet
I’m not sure why
I keep on changing
like I do
I don’t know
if it’s good or bad
I really wish I knew.
I fear with all these changes
taking place inside of me,
others will only notice
the outer side they see.
I wish I understood
what was meant to be,
what’s the point in changing
if you don’t change with me.

Take my hand, my love,
we can grow together.
I will grow
and you will grow,
by my side
FOREVER.

In every life,
there’s a moment, or two.
The curve of your neck
out of that corduroy man’s shirt,
Burnt orange,
of autumn; passing of the old.
How unaware you were
that our child-like lives had just changed.
That’s not quite the right word.
They rearranged themselves
Into a new pattern, the right one.
Like random iron filings on paper
Which, when a magnet comes near,
Spring instantly into order,
Obedient to the
Truth of an invisible force.

I light up
each evening
before sunset as
it’s my duty,
they say, and
because, I am not
allowed to take
it for granted, oh Moon,
‘that you would arrive
tonight’!

This moment twists in on itself
A cruel freak show contortionist
Who stares agape, tear-carved
Deltas from his made up eyes.
If only it would twist into a pretzel
With lots of salt
That we’d eat with mustard.
Two kids on a boardwalk,

I don’t know who I am yet
for I have not faced the darkest night
nor heard the howling demons
that hunger for my soul
I have not felt the razors edge
nor heard the wooing whispers
tempting me to use it
to let my blood be
the ink of my final poem

A RUNAWAY LOVER
By Charles Robert Lindholm
She was always better at running away
from the intimacies created by connecting
sexually and emotionally than wanting to stay
for a chance to see if love and commitment
would grow into forever
