Ravens

by tinethewordsmith

There is a ruckus

within my skull:

ravens are perching

on the nerves;

pecking at the walls;

etching their names.

Tempests of Thought

by Morgan

Magnifying Glass

In Tempests of Thought Thou first Unspiraled
Mystery to Every mind,
But fact to Thee, like its own fiction spinning;
Deductions Simple, that none else shall find.

Casting back Thy Silken Locks, where Thou Gazest sharply,
To Pique Thine Interest, fortune plays a hand,
But given over to Conscientiousness,
Hints of Thy true nature to Understand.

Clues in lesser shadow falling than in darkest night,
To Tempt Thy Passions, most bemusing,
While Accosted in the fleeting light of day
By floods of details, generously accusing.

Passion

by soad88

Deutsch: Rose mit Rauhreif / Eiskristallen

“Take O! Take those lips away,

Those so sweetly were forsworn,

And those eyes, the break of day,

Lights that do mislead the morn;

But my kisses bring again

                                                               Bring again

Seals of love, but sealed in vain,

                                                                           Sealed in vain.”

Lost

Clinging to shadows
Floating in space
Noise-less wonder
Endless race

Crossroads scratched
Bridges down
Storms are coming
no way around

The Sphinx

Sphinxes

Sphinxes (Photo credit: schmaeche)

Sitting all alone

on a forgotten throne

of desert debris and spoiled human meat

No greedy follower to worship

nor sacrifices to hold

You ate more than your fill

and enslaved the needy

You’re dead now

but   left behind is

a feminine mind

Doves

by soad88

Departing in the dark of night

I leave behind familiar tunes

of you and I and what was and used to be

wordless joys and hopeful dreams

we were like doves nestled in an olive tree

embracing peaceful serenity

we raised our own

taught them to soar

spreading peace and razing calamities

For in our youth

we spread only truth

and left all vile behind

never looking back to notice

The arrowhead that pierced your naked heart

Every word.

by Harry

Posted for Missy.

Every word you speak
is like a dealt blow
that throws me into the emptiness of confusion.

You speak of your hatred
for me,
the more I try to love and honour you
for God’s sake.

Good times don’t last for long
not even a second
till depression invades.

Her essence

For poetry challenge 2

With all her essence

she enters the room

fragrance’s amplify

like fresh roses in bloom

chants were all fluid

soothing to my ear

thoughts of her in past

always brings a tear

Ghosts

by Sorrows In A Serenade

Hi guys! I’m posting this in response to the Trifextra Writing Challenge at http://www.trifectawritingchallenge.com/2012/12/trifextra-week-forty-five.html! It’s community judged, so if you like it please spare a few minutes to put in a vote for me (Sorrows In A Serenade)! Really appreciate it, thanks! 😀

Ghosts of boxy apartment

walls wail watching

soul after soul fall; fail

spectacularly –

clean, crisp sheets tugged

up by cold, clammy fingers of hell,

smothering and blinding.

Light succumbs, darkness wins.

Ghosts wail.

Hollow

Finally back after a long uncomfortable absence! Hope you missed me! 🙂

hollow eyes –
window to
hollow soul.
rainbows of youth
faded, dull grey hues
plague cloudy skies.

The Photocopy Machine

by Sorrows In A Serenade

Green glow consumes the person.

Churning, whirring,
White papers with black dots, white papers with black dots, white papers with black dots
Again.
The same blots on the same purity.

Winter’s Nocturnes – A Sestina

by Sorrows In A Serenade

He sits down.

Melodies unfurl with a twitch, a light trill,
And the man leans back, savouring every note
Cloaked in black, and stained with tears,
Winter’s gifts a forgotten sight. Under the stars,
He bows his head, straightens his back, and the haunting
Begins. He slams on the piano keys, sorrow a dark cloud.

He remembers lying down, watching the clouds,
He remembers the chirping birds’ magnificent trill,
He remembers her – her bright green eyes haunting
His own. Her hand, knotted
With his. He remembers lying down, watching the stars
As each twinkled, then faded, merely a tiny tear.

A Broken Umbrella

by Sorrows In A Serenade

We’ll dance a waltz in the rain.
Let
the twirling raindrops breeze past us
And the lovely patters sing.

We’ll grow our roses in the rain.
Let
the soothing winds fondle our creation
And blooming petals rise.

Fish.

by Sorrows In A Serenade

Eyes turn to stare
At the new fish on the street

Dirty brown, ragged, dusty, filthy.
A pure-bred,
A perfect addition to their collection
In the tank.

Joining the ranks of four others,
A school, lined up in neat row.
Body after body after body after body after body
Resting on their tails – fish have no legs.

Alley – A Sestina

by Sorrows In A Serenade

apologies for not updating for very long! Lots of projects and schoolwork, but the busiest period hasn’t even arrived yet! Really very sorry for my lack of discipline >< anyway hope you like this! A sestina, on how we all too often lose our way through the treacherous territory of gold and diamonds. Hope you like it, and appreciate the comments!

In the alley, I meet the Spirit
The maiden of the Fair
Night, shrouded in mist.
Claiming lives
From clutches of play
To join her in the fog
