Out to sea off Brighton
a flash lit up the night

But pausing for a moment there
and waiting patiently
whilst rain fell there in splatters
I got a shot for me
We never heard the thunder
but there was lightning there for sure
coupled with the heavy rain
which fell as down it poured

But in the gaps and the stillness
there’s barely a sound

From steel beams brightness springs
Bringing vibrant, ephemeral life
To the skeleton being constructed
Across the station parking lot.

The excitement of a thunderstorm
always brings a thrill
A flash of light and then the count
the waiting then until
A roll or clap of thunder
like a party in the sky
The same for when it’s miles away
or really close nearby

Mugginess building
Yellowing skies
reckon we’ll soon be
in for surprise
Distant rumbling
of the thunder
Overhead dark
clouds asunder

River of argent fire
Twisting down from above,
Power slowly gathered
Gone like
Kodak flashbulbs,
Four shots for a buck
