Mirrors

Mirrors.jpg

Mirrors reflect
what we wish to see
Mirrors tell
of other people we’re dying to be

Mirrors speak
what we’d like to hear
Mirrors hide
what we want to see disappear

A soliloquy in a midsummer night’s dream!

by Sandeep

“Lies have become your character,
Taking over from truth,
Which was your nature.

Truth is there,
Hidden by your lies,
Behind your lies:
Lies that you have cultivated,
Some that you know,
Subtly, playing right in front of your eyes.
Some still unknown,
For lies aren’t easy to pick,
Especially, when you have drowned in them,
And so you miss.

Always found peace in the chaos

Flames licked him with an icy tongue

A calm sort of desperation

April Fool

by Noura M.MouSsa

Wake up, the rain is gone,

The sun is up, cozy and warm,

He said as he took his umbrella and coat,

“What kind of paradox is this?” as he left I thought.

I enter my brain and go back to a time,

My mind told me she will stay forever but days went by,

And as fast as a weary man closes his eyes to sleep,

Her departure like a knife ran fast to cut me so deep.

The Available One

by blackandwhiteartist

YOU ARE not supposed to tell me everything.
But it doesn’t mean that you should not tell me what I need to know.

You are not supposed to tell me everything.
But it doesn’t mean that you won’t let me know.

You are not supposed to tell me everything.
But it doesn’t mean that you will… lie

It’s hard to pretend everyday.
Everytime I see you, so does the lie.
I can see the lie you told us, you told me.

The Ring Finger On My Left Hand

by suicidallyanonymous

i.
Current count of lies encircling
the ring finger on my left hand:
one hundred and twenty-two.

ii.
Faux metal purchased on a whim,
dispensed from a vending machine:
At the time it screamed “VEGAS”
and the world was spiderwebbed
in purple and gold beads.
What happens in Sin City…

And then I blinked:
The green has already airbrushed
a chlorophyll tattoo,
croaking out “tacky”;
regret is pinching the vein
that goes straight to my heart.
