And the view from the beach hut
to the shine of the sea
on this day in December
was fantastic for me
So pleased I can come
at all times of year
as this place is my haven
and always brings cheer
Widewater Lagoon
right next to the sea
on a day like today
is the place to be
There are people just walking
whilst some cycle by
and every so often
a seagull I'll spy
It's such a nice walk
on my way to the beach
so I'm massively grateful
it's in easy reach
as it means to this place
I can come for a wander
on days like today
and not let them squander
The sprawl of Brighton to the east
and Worthing to the west
is why this beach at Lancing
sparks such an interest
As lying equidistant
the eye is drawn to each
affording quite the best of views
when sitting on the beach
Looking eastwards cross the raging sea
grey clouds above the green
The beach at Lancing here today
amongst the best I’ve seen
That is, I’d say, for quite a while
so fortunate am I
as I can come and witness when
wind blows and waves are high
This beach, this shore in Sussex
wonderful throughout the year
Its glory never lost on me
when I am standing here
Took a trip to the beach hut
It’s looking quite good
If you don’t look too close
at the oft patched up wood
The locks opened fine
with some lubricant there
and it doesn’t look like
it needs much repair
Saturday morning came and
the sun was nice and bright
A beach breakfast was beckoning
so we rather thought we might
And just as luck would have it
not that far from home
there’s a restaurant right on the beach
(no need to book by phone)
I walked the long familiar beach
where houses made of wood
formed from disused railway stock
against the weather stood
All are now long gone of course
but their garden walls remain
Reminding me that wind and sea
will always stake its claim
