Through a gap in the bushes I spied Shoreham town nestled there under the Downs twixt me and the sea safe there in the lea the bearer of treasure and crowns
Shoreham my home
Chalky
These chalky trails on Sussex loam in these green hills above my home are quite the best so many times I will return as they are mine and with a joy I'll shout aloud this is my Sussex and I'm proud
Gigsters Divine

Though many bands we've seen it's been six years since last we all were collectively 'the gigsters' at least, as I recall But last night for Divine Comedy the 'Gigsters' were united once again all six together as each had been invited 'Divine' was most appropriate as superlative this evening the 'Gigsters' doing what we do for friendship's steadfast meaning
A re-discovery

In the loft I found boxes of music forgotten CDs boxed ages ago Downloaded to iPods listened to then when I was much younger you know So the discovery now of these treasures is such that I'm smitten all over again the i-Pods replaced with the streaming of now these are so much like an old friend And though there's surely suspect content in there as my taste has changed over time the joy of the challenge to listen again is something that is wholly mine
Abundance II
Something different every time in this familiar place visited most weekends as it's our saving grace Obi gets his running time as we follow, slower gait and every time throughout the year new pleasures there await Something different every time some small, some larger still await us when we visit our abundance to refill
Built a Falcon
I built a Millennium Falcon something I have longed to do sixteen hundred pieces of Lego from an intricate guide someone drew It took me several long hours but the resulting model of joy is a beauty to simply behold and admire by the man who's still really a boy

THE GIFT OF YOUR TIME
Our beach hut
And the view from the beach hut to the shine of the sea on this day in December was fantastic for me So pleased I can come at all times of year as this place is my haven and always brings cheer
The joy of seven tree field

In seven tree field Santa's sleigh had arrived and Obi sniffed inquisitively We paused for a snap with the little chap before he ran off for a wee In seven tree field December has come but it's still not really that cold The trees are now bare but none of us care for they've left the grass covered in gold
I waved a long shadow
I waved a long shadow by a favourite tree in a favourite field where I love to be the sunshine was bright but with rain in the air though sadly no rainbow was evident there But as usual the joy of the wander we had in Seven Tree Field just made our hearts glad and our little dog, Obi he ran and he ran with exuberant gait with which all dogs can
This time last year IV
This time last year the weather was mellow and in spite of restriction a fortunate fellow was able to cycle out of the trail as sunsets of gold were made to regale
Dawn Chorus Joy
I wrote some words without a picture
save the one that’s in my head
so it’s imagination that
you’ll have to use instead
For this is about the chorus
that I hear each day at dawn
the sweetest sound I’ll ever hear
as I awaken with a yawn
Days
Pink IV
Tri-tanka IX – Joy
Music days III
I sat and listened to music as the day bled away
a can of beer at my side
and closing my eyes
it was no surprise
I felt joy with those songs as I cried
For my music will do that and make no mistake
it’s something that I often do
Drift away for a while
with contentment and smile
a pastime I’ll often pursue
This field we walk
For the bringing of joy
With all that you read here
It didn’t trouble Wordsworth
or Longfellow or Dahl
as I’m sure when they were writing
you would never hear a snarl
So I won’t let it trouble me
for there is much in life
to write some joyful lines about
avoiding all the strife
So here to make that very point
though I’ll need to be quite snappy
are several lines to bring a smile
and leave you feeling happy

Christmas week VII
7 of 7 in the Jemverse ‘Christmas week’ series
The Christmas week now
today sees its end
with just five days to go
before this year we’ll send
On its way with relief
as really we should
as let’s face it, it’s truly
not been that good
But before it’s sent packing
we still have some December
to fill with good things
for us to remember
