Dogs

by Nick Anthony

The neighborhood is lined with houses
Whose yards are filled with mongrel hordes,
Kept safe behind white picket fences,
Unaware of the world beyond the wooden boards.

Peaceful nights are wrenched away
From hardworking neighbors needing sleep
When the howling hounds come out to play
And bark their prejudice across the street
To other hounds behind picket fences,
Also unable to see beyond their defenses.

Night after night the uncouth mutts stay woke,
Yipping and yapping their ode to democracy.
Until yapping becomes yipping in a cloud of smoke
And they are lost in a haze of their hypocrisy.

All while the suffering, sleepless majority
Are kept awake by the woke minority.
They wonder if the PACs of dogs on either side
Will ever look inward and get wise
To the folly of their two-tone protest
Across the streets of the midwest,
Against enemies decried as ignorant
Who–in fact–are not so different.

Seeking Light

by Tanya

Amidst the turmoil
I face,
The mind still drains
and I still feel the pain..

No tomorrow
has brought a bright future yet..
All I am left with is
empty hands in vain..

Bleeding Emotion

Hush! silence please , I can’t think, I can’t cope

My head is melting , I’m loosing it,  loosing hope!

Everyone is a little mental, I do not mean to be detrimental.

But just look at me I am loosing all control

Changing , melding , loosing my soul.

I look in the mirror and see all my colours bleeding

No definition left  of me, my sanity’s receding.

Look at those colours  drooping and melding

There is not much of me left now, even after all that welding.

The weeping angel.

by willowdot21

I saw the Angel at the grave she was weeping tears.

The weight of all the grief she had seen, years of pain and fears.

It hurt me to see the angel so, such a burden she had to carry.

The hate  and betrayal all around I wondered why she should tarry.

Flight with the Doves

by willowdot21

First the white foundation warm and just the right texture to stick to her face it’s colour causing consternation.

Then koal black applied around, above and below the eyes. Black, black as the night looking so stark against the white.

Lips now red as a rose or more to the point, the colour of blood as it flows from the heart emptying  a soul of life. The end of mortality the end of strife.

Brush the hair a hundred times, it will dazzle everyone the Moon it will outshine, it dazzles, it blinds.

Twist Of Faith

by willowdot21

It would be a cruel twist of fate if I met you again at heaven’s gate. We were so close, so in love I thought you were an angel sent from heaven above. Then one day I awoke to fine you gone no note nor message to tell me what I had done wrong. The pain you left me in was just too great it laid me low worrying about your fate.

I lost my way I lost my mind the way you disappeared was just so unkind. I asked for help I begged for solace but it was denied me.I needed your arms I needed to to see your face! It felt like I had fallen so far from grace and I had landed in an unholy place!
