SHE HOPES FOR MORE

—-MEMORIES OF THE PAST—-

By Charles Robert Lindholm

she’s so loving
and yet unloved
so caring
though she’s neglected
she’s giving
but never given to
a beautiful lady
who lives life unadmired

Has to come soon

by Jem Croucher
Has to come soon from winter's charade
the warmth that all now we crave
as the weather has thrown its toys from the pram
and doesn't know how to behave

Has to come soon, the Spring and the Summer
it's mid-April and soon will be May
so we're well overdue for a taste of the warmth
that makes for a lovely Spring day

Resolve

by Jem Croucher
In the silent refraction of a New Year sun
as slowly in the thin Eastern sky
its distant yellow rays struggled,
January arrived to a silent world

Almost as if in slow motion, life passed
as through my window with early eyes
a perception of a whispered promise
echoed across a vacant sky

And the curl of a smile gathered pace
calming like a summer breeze
spoke long vicissitudes
with wisdom to a sleepy morning

Start V

by Jem Croucher

5 of 12 in the Jemverse series ’12 months VI’

January first of twenty-three
hip hip hip hooray
a brand new year to celebrate
right here on New Year's Day
And we welcome it together
with anticipated hope
the fortitude of eons
mechanism there to cope
The resilience of humankind
to rise above and prosper
whatever this year brings our way
a happiness to foster

Winter II

by Jem Croucher
It came so fast, the iron chill as winter took a hold
and shivering we huddled to hide from bitter cold
Sometimes we would venture out for food or other things
but mostly hibernation from the numb the winter brings

One IX

by Jem Croucher

9 of 12 in the Jemverse series ’12 months V’

Maybe May will find me
on the beach once more
as warmer days get warmer
and summer waits in store
Maybe May will be the one
to see those doors flung wide
for long days in the sunshine
no more the place to hide
Maybe May will see these things
as they're the thing to do
for the fifth month and summer
are quite symbiotic too

One V

by Jem Croucher

5 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 months V’ series

Emerging from long slumber
fresh, I breathe in the first day
and, calling aloud her name to the winds
claim this New Year's day for hope.
For here is positivity -
anticipatory emotion.
Yet, no insipidity here
as this is a cherished agency;
one that clings to the soul and sings
long and proud and true

Last day bussokuseki

by Jem Croucher
And so the last day
What philosophy inspires
to leave us with hope?
As the old fades to the new
and promise leaps to the fore
None, save a prayer for the bold

2021

by Jem Croucher
Just two days left of the year that has been
and I find myself drifting away
looking back to the past
with a bit of a blast
on twenty-one's last but one day

It's been one of pandemic but also of hope
triple boosted at its end as I am
I have exercised care
and am proud to share
I'm as healthy as I think I can

Beginning XI

July the first and summer continues
warming up just a tad I presume
Cos with May the rain
in bucketloads came
which continued cool into June

Swathes of sun

by Jem Croucher

It’s hopeful seeing swathes of sun
in the garden daily here
even though it’s three weeks hence
til longer daytime cheer
It’s not until the end of March
that British Summer Time
gives us more daily sunlight
as we turn to warmer clime

A RAINBOW’S PROMISE

by thereluctantpoet

By Keza – Spiritedsoul and Charles Robert Lindholm

Resistance Is A Self Taught Way
A Means Of Self-Defense

To Stay True To Oneself
And What One Believes

A Wall, A Shield
Preventing Being
Caught Up In Messes Made By Others

My Mind Is Full Of Dreams,
Visions And Memories

Replaying Them
Over And Over Again
In My Head

What Once Was,
No Longer Exists,
There Is Only Ashes
Left Behind From Miserable Days

But I Resist
Lies And Hopelessness
Knowing Darkness Will End
When The Light Of Truth Shines
And Rainbows Promise
Better Days
And Hope

Beginning VII (aka Tri-tanka VIII – beginning)

by Jem Croucher

7 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 months IV’ series

(& 1 of 7 for Tri-tanka week)

And so March begins
The promises multiply
from nature and man
for spring time and other things
providing wisdom remains

And so March is here
with sunshine already strong
its lack-lustre passed
as it pushes to summer
encouraging new growth

And so March begins
May we please use it wisely
and bring fruition
for it has been a long year
and we are so very close

Beginning VI

by Jem Croucher

6 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 month IV’ series

In layers of grey with blue above
a February sky
caught me unawares today
as slowly I walked by
It promised new beginning
and though naked still the trees
the sunshine brought a warmth
to the fading winter freeze
So, resolved there in that moment
I vowed to hold that thought today
The hope for new beginning
as I went upon my way

When it’s safe

by Jem Croucher

When it’s safe I will be out there
in the Sussex I hold dear
on the byways and the beach
where the air is ever clear

When it’s safe I will have music
live and loud as it should be
with songs that sing of life
which will then be Covid-free

When it’s safe I will be hugged
and will hug my loved ones too
replenishing that feeling
of the love I long to do

THE FIRST SUNRISE OF JANUARY

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The First Sunrise Of January
Always Leaves Me Wondering
What Lies Ahead
Just Out Of Sight
Over The Horizon
In My Tomorrows

And Then It Leads My
Mind Back Over The
Last Year And
Way Back When Too

Recalling
Moments And Memories
And What If’s And
Might Have Beens

Things That Never Were
But Could Have Been
And The Happiness
That Was And
The Blessings
That I Have

Regrets
And Bittersweet
Memories Escape
Their Cell

Deep In My Heart
On The First
Sunrise Of January
Before Being
Escorted Away

Sometimes The Heart
And Soul
Need To Reflect,
Remember And Wonder,
So They Will Be
More Grateful,
And Happy During
The Coming Year

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The Demarcation,
The Ending And Beginning,
One Year Passing Away Into History
As The New Year Is Born

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The “First Time”
You Get To Make An X
On The New Year’s Calendar

2020

by Jem Croucher

Reminiscing at conclusion
of this year that has now been
I think back over all that we
have done and all we’ve seen
As it started fairly normally
at the beginning of the year
when none had any reason
to think we’d shed a tear

But just a few weeks later
all the pubs and shops were closed
with people social distanced
diametrically opposed
the world ran out of toilet rolls
and pasta which was strange
as to a locked-in world
our lives we re-arranged

This time last year III

by Jem Croucher

This time last year
rather innocently
we went up to London
town where did we
gather therein at
the Royal Alert Hall
to raise a loud voice
with glad anthem call
for Christmas carols
there with the throng
as myriad voices
joined there in song
