I say that I lost you
as though you were an umbrella
that I carelessly left on the bus
Poems, poets, poetry, writing, poetry challenges
Written in collaboration with S Francis at SailorPoet after they uncovered and shared a couple of fragments found in journals. – Gecko and Mouse
In the sleepless nights since you left
I have become a ghost
Haunting lonely shores.
My restless legs cover miles
Before giving out.
I still feel..
your lips on mine
as I held you close
and your hair did shine
under a million stars
when everything seemed to align.
I wonder if..
you think about me too
when you lie in bed at night
under a million different stars
knowing my heart still belongs to you.
I don’t hate you.
It’s not you who fuels the insomnia
That tortures me in bed
Each night as I lay awake,
Desperately longing to take back
What I lost.
She cries in the rain and stares until she’s blinded at fiery sunsets
She drinks from the ocean
And then writes his name in the sand
She crashes into the pain this brings like the waves on the shore
She’s been scuttling about, trying to gather the pieces of her life
Strewn upon the floor, just like the mirror she shattered because he always said she was beautiful and she couldn’t find beautiful in the mirror
Her hands are cut and bleeding; pulling back the fragments, desperately trying to make them stick
