Et Voila!

by Jem Croucher
Dog walkers walking with plenty of dogs
some running free some on leads
the river meandering down to the sea
with ducks hiding there in the reeds

A grey sky above but the chill is now gone
and there's no wind at all here today
There's even a hint of blue through the cloud
out there in the spread of the bay

All of these years

by Jem Croucher
Little short poems here by the day
doing their bit to keep blues away
from the mind of a poet with something to say
as he has done of these years

A pen that rarely stays still despite all
of the circumstances that will daily befall
and come to the fore with a hark and a a call
as they have done all of these years

Wellbeing wanders

by Jem Croucher
Took myself for a walk
around and about
my gait having purpose
as it's nice to get out

Down to the beach
the broad walk for me
breathing in deep
salt air from the sea

In the autumn now

by Jem Croucher
October shadow, Obi's field
in the heart of Sussex Weald
barely was the warmth concealed
in the autumn now

Walked a mile around the place
felt again familiar grace
with the sunshine on my face
in the autumn now

This place

by Jem Croucher
Sat down at the allotment
in late summer sun
with a welcome can of ale
the weeding here all done
The no dog plots are looking good
and our labour is well spent
as everything is looking great
almost as if with intent

Raison d’être

by Jem Croucher
In my solace and respite
with the sun streaming in
I'm at home in my room
as you'll see from my grin
for all that is in here
is here to bring joy
with things I've collected
since I was a boy

Complete II

by Jem Croucher
In my garden at nightfall
when the sun has just set
and the heat of the day still remains
I find solace and respite
as on my bench with repose
I appreciate all of life's gains

At the eve III (part 6)

by Jem Croucher

6 of 12 in the Jemverse summer 22 series ‘Melting Days’

At the eve of this day
I will embrace each of these pleasures
and there will be flotsam on the breeze
and the knowledge that all is well
and there I will find me

43

by Jem Croucher
Forty-three years ago
nineteen seventy-nine
two soulmates in love
their lives they combined
and we've never looked back
from that lovely day
as our love has grown deeper
it's quite true to say
Two kindred spirits
we soulmates as one
raise a glass here today
for more years of fun

Beaches

by Jem Croucher
Looking out 'cross windswept beaches
though this one's far from home
a familiar feeling warms me
from all the views I've known
For here I'm in my element
close to the sea, my heart
a synergy that's part of me
and has been from the start

Back to the loop

by Jem Croucher
It was back to the loop
with a whim and a way
as the sun was quite warm
on this late April day
and I was on leave
and the hills were all green
and the chalk of the trail
is the best I have seen
so I put best foot forward
with this walk 'cos it's there
reacquainting myself
with this pleasure to share

Abundance II

by Jem Croucher
Something different every time
in this familiar place
visited most weekends
as it's our saving grace
Obi gets his running time
as we follow, slower gait
and every time throughout the year
new pleasures there await
Something different every time
some small, some larger still
await us when we visit
our abundance to refill

Wolfgang and I

by Jem Croucher
The Wolf and I we went for a walk
down by the river and more
and he wagged his tail and pricked up his ears
at most everything that he saw
We walked down the towpath and looked at the planes
in the airport nearby
and as we walked home his tail wagged again
as some of them took to the sky

Visiting my used to be

by Jem Croucher
Once in a while those halcyon days
with an echo call out from the years
and with whimsy in hand I'll visit those days
of my formative smiles and my tears
I'll see in mind's eye with clarity there
the memories of what was once me
and though I still am and proud of the fact
it's nice to see my used to be
