Poetry challenge: Easter poem.
.
Poems, poets, poetry, writing, poetry challenges
It’s a quiet day today, for a Friday
But it’s a nice thing to know people still
Observe some of the old ways, reverence and worship
I’m not kin of the people of the cross but I respect
And I even believe
A quiet Friday, so much like my usual Sundays
Spent at my cube, alone in my corner at work
A peaceful time to contemplate all the complexities of the living
Since it’s a holy day
I suppose I should be all sacred
But there are times when one smile drops, and then another
And then a little faith pops its bubble in your face
I feel like praying, but I get too tired to pray.
I thought he was a soulmate
There was something soul-ish in his smile
He pushed me out of my own way
But he was spoken for all the while.
And when I thought I was ready to get serious about this day
