Sunset

by Jem Croucher
Through the trees of an evening
the delight of the gold
as the sunset descends once again
and this moment divine
which is wholly mine
is comforting like an old friend

Abundantly clear

by Jem Croucher
And this morning
the glorious sunshine pervaded
so wondrously
that I was persuaded
though it didn't take much
it the truth be told
as when one is faced
by mornings of gold
it is really and truly
abundantly clear
that June has arrived
and the summer is here

December sunset

by Jem Croucher

I caught the gold of setting sun
with trees in silhouette
an absolutely gorgeous thing
I’ll not that soon forget

And early though the hour was
December. Four P.M.
Sublime it was the golden glow
with sunset here again

An ode to Autumn

by Jem Croucher

4 of 4

Pale-white shrinking golden glow
hovers over water slow
and morning waking slumber stays
as it peers slowly from the haze
Whimsy holds removed I see
a world at distance wistfully
as summer fades to distant glow
and cooler days I soon will know
A curtain call as evening falls
and summer into winter calls
Yet tangible with treasure hold
the Autumn swan-song bathed in gold

Welcoming the gold

by Jem Croucher

There’s a nip in the air
but the door’s open wide
and I’ve yet to feel chill
when sitting inside

There’s still colour out there
and the green’s yet to fade
as though it was hoping
that summer had stayed

Of rust and gold

by Jem Croucher

And to these days
when all I hold
is flecked with rust
or painted gold
I know which of
these I prefer
So to the gold
I will defer

Aspects of Gold III

by Jem Croucher

Part 3 of 3

Of the sunsets I’ve seen
these aspects of gold
are treasures to cherish
and assets to hold
For each is a promise
to capture and seize
from the sun in the sky
like a kiss on the breeze

Aspects of Gold II

by Jem Croucher

Part 2 of 3

On the footbridge returning
from a day on the beach
there’s a place where I stand
that’s within easy reach
to envelop myself
in the colours I see
and gaze out in wonder
as it falls around me

Of Solid Gold

by Venkat

in glitter it wore hats
of crimson words
in meaning it bore stories
of velvet shades
love yet was not, nor ever
of solid gold

There was gold…

by Jem Croucher

There was gold on the horizon
Out there across the sea
As we drove back into Shoreham
My soulmate, Sal and me
It filled the sky above us
With clouds tinged pink and bright
Heralding a promise
As we’re told to bring delight

Evening Gold

by Jem Croucher

Silhouetted here in contrast
against an azure sky
Like giant insects waiting
cranes in silent protest lie
And glorious behind them
behind the Western hills
The sun sets o’er the city
and everything is still

Gold Chain

by Miriam Hurdle

VanessasLocket

Hidden in the rocks, its value

Waits to be found.

Digging, hitting, pounding.

Comes above the ground.

What does it want to be?

It doesn’t know.

Treasure to save

was quite wet this year and then
the summer that followed was generally dry
and hot most days once again

The sun I see

by Jem Croucher

12607217_10154568779369199_1360281353_n

Band of gold in Western skies
Heralding the days’ sunrise
always comes as a surprise
When I see it there

Morning glory out of night
Darkness flees as though in flight
Wonderful to me this sight
When I see it there

Sands and Gold

by Venkat

image

Your world, made of gold
To my eyes, perched on your heart
Squealing chirps, you read as a song
Upon every corner, you hold as a branch
As I come, as I go, with wings uncertain
You hold this freedom, you give
By a home, warm as a nest

November

by Jem Croucher

Leaving the colour
of October behind
I walked into November
with winter in mind
But the ethereal light
spilling there
through the green
made this the warmest
November I’d seen

We imagine a better person we might be.

Golden nuggets

by Harry

Posted for Sharmishtha

how much we give away
for those glittering gold nuggets
how they bewitch us
with their bewitching ways
we lose so much
love, time, happiness that was sanguine
to chase this golden mirage
heaven only knows thinking what!
