THE FIRST SUNRISE OF JANUARY

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The First Sunrise Of January
Always Leaves Me Wondering
What Lies Ahead
Just Out Of Sight
Over The Horizon
In My Tomorrows

And Then It Leads My
Mind Back Over The
Last Year And
Way Back When Too

Recalling
Moments And Memories
And What If’s And
Might Have Beens

Things That Never Were
But Could Have Been
And The Happiness
That Was And
The Blessings
That I Have

Regrets
And Bittersweet
Memories Escape
Their Cell

Deep In My Heart
On The First
Sunrise Of January
Before Being
Escorted Away

Sometimes The Heart
And Soul
Need To Reflect,
Remember And Wonder,
So They Will Be
More Grateful,
And Happy During
The Coming Year

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The Demarcation,
The Ending And Beginning,
One Year Passing Away Into History
As The New Year Is Born

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The “First Time”
You Get To Make An X
On The New Year’s Calendar

LIFE CYCLES THROUGH THE SEASONS

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The fall winds have stolen
the leaves from the trees
and layed them on the ground
in litters of types and colors
before they are carried
away in a gust

Let us Go Back

by Zenei

The past holds the future.

Don’t be chased. Don’t be chained.

Forget it and we tumble.

Go back and make peace.

Wish A Better Future..

by Tanya

I stood by my will
To cheer my little
My darling wanted a gift
Which went off with a drift

To cheer my little
For she wanted more dolls
Those shells around
Had once fell with a sound
She wished for children to play
But they vanished falling prey

I am truth
in its most natural form;
I have brothers and sisters who are
different
tho just as true.
I sometimes stand alone

Reflecting

Often we stop what we are doing to reflect
Thoughts seem to roam like a grazing cow
Looking back at some detail or event passed
We might ask our self who, what, why or how.

Eyes only on the bottom-line,
we seek to build, but not refine.
For profit’s sake, we play with lives
with silicon brains, traces and wires.

Towering like a monolith
up into the sky
Brighton’s i-360
is really, really high
Dwarfing the remains
of the ruinous West Pier
it stands alone just waiting
for the summer to appear

Music Says So Much

Feelings are something we all have
Whether we try to avoid or ignore
They make us who we truly are
Without feelings, we can’t be sure.

Thoughtful day on what society is coming to be
Looking around today, there is so much to see
Was I raised in that much simpler a time to live
Maybe parents had morals and discipline to give.

Looking back over the past is universal
Everyone spends some time reliving events
Those we’ve met and decisions we’ve made
Representing times of joy and some laments.
