What She Loved…

by A. L. O'Prunty

~ What She Loved

Was the purity in the lily

Graceful petals

Reaching heaven bound

As porcelain arms in praise

And the twisting winding roses

Traveling the trellis

Scaling the distance

Between roo

t and also heaven bound

Permeating her world,

Her waters seeping sensual oils

Then the wildness of the tiger lily

Growing wild and free

Surviving without tending

The tender touch

of the gardeners hands

Not required,

still exotic the pulsating petals

And the bleeding hearts

Delicate, dainty

drops of colors fused

And the reality represented in the name;

All hearts bleed,

broken by love lacking

fragile petals drop as tears falling

What she loved was beauty

Beauty, in all forms, fashions

And on bended knee

She, the gardener

Singing her songs of praise

In her own garden of delights

Moments of Change

The harp, the home, the houses we know

are like catalysts of change.

Between fears and tears
The mind wanders
Hikes in deep dark ravines
Shoots to heavenly heights
Conversations bounce
Back and fourth
As a ping pong ball
Of resolutions
Silent prayers…

~ Rhythm of Love ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

~ Rhythm of Love ~

This heart was not made for
Nor lean toward

Where disharmony
And discord
Rule the day

No, this heart was
Tenderly molded
To beat…

“I love”
“I love”
“I love”

And yet,
Tis the most painful
Sound I’ve known

In a world
Where disharmony
And discord
Rule the day:

Beat! Oh heavy heart!
In a pitch beyond the pain
Silence comes to soon

“I love”
“I love”
“I love”_______

~ Merry Christmas – Happy Holidays? ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

Eight Christmas’ had come and gone since I felt the urge to be amongst the shoppers; to become part of the hustle and bustle. By the time I was through shopping, I was saddened by the obvious, “there was no Merry in Merry Christmas and no Happy in Happy Holidays”…for the common man, but “Merry Materialistic and a Happy Commercialism” greetings was ringing in my ears, like “the Bells of Christmas” had done, once upon a time, long, long ago.

~ Personification – Knowledge ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

Beneath the earth
Modern hands unveil me as prized possessions –
Script me from a modern mind-set
Freeze frame me in images
Sarcophagus, symbols, hieroglyphics
Scrolls, papyrus, pottery
Sample my mummified remains
Yet, I remain obscure
Great minds seek the unknown
In agony, some concede
In ecstasy some succeed, relentless
In dispute, competition ensues
