by Jem Croucher

1 of 12 in the ’12 months VI’ series from Jemverse

It's the first of September
and here for the starting
a new Jemverse series
with the old just departing

Twelve poems each as
the first day arrives
will start every month
if my writing survives

Beginning XII

by Jem Croucher

12 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 months IV’ series

Forty-eight beginnings later
first of August twenty-one
the last one in this series
now twelve months since begun
But not (you will be pleased to hear)
the last one here for good
for I'll begin a brand new series
next month here (you knew I would)

First XII

by Jem Croucher

Concluding the Jemverse ’12 months III’ series [12 of 12]

So here’s a little ditty
the first of more to come
from January through December
until this year is done

First III (tanka)

by Jem Croucher

3 of 12 in the Jemverse ’12 months III’ series

And so November
Colder days have taken hold
As wrapped up people shiver
into the winter
with the swansong of Autumn
for the year-end’s curtain call

The First

by russtowne

She whispered, “I like you”
All the prompting I’d need
As we stood in the shade
Of a towering tree

Both new at this
Feeling kind of shy
Leaned toward each other
Quickly closed our eyes

That warm sunny day
Shared our first kiss
She only five years old
I was almost six.
