Sunset coming

by Jem Croucher
There's a sunset coming though a ways off yet
I can see the glow to the West
as the evening time approaches now
a bid at my behest

It's yellow, pink and pastel
and full of warming glow
foretelling of a different time
that all too soon I'll know

The golden hour

by Jem Croucher
The golden of the evening
is a lovely thing to see
glistening on forsythia
and shining off its leaves

Particularly through the strands
of our new sunscreen door
colourful it gently sways
which is what we bought it for

And there is birdsong out there
as the sunset it arrives
a joyful song to end the day
and the pleasure it derives

Saving Grace

by Jem Croucher

Slowly dusk descended
and it got really hard to see
but the birdsong in the evening sky
was great for Sal and me

And though we’ve said it here before
we really love this place
and though a broken record-like
it is our saving grace

Testament befitting

by Jem Croucher

The pastel pink of evening
was in the sky tonight
as I sat writing poems
and caught the lovely sight
So with my i-phone there I captured it
before it went away
attesting to the passing
of another lovely day

Firepit

by Jem Croucher

Flames in the firepit
as evening draws in
and I’m out as the sun dies away
The crack from the wood
is a comfort and good
here at the end of the day

Evening of the day

by Jem Croucher

Tonight I found a sunset
as the river trickled slow
and the deeper blue of night arrived
above the golden glow

It was peaceful there and quiet
not another soul around
so I revelled in the moment
of that special place I’d found

Fading light; silver sea

by Jem Croucher

The silver sea lay still and calm
as dusk gathered round about
and on the shingle gazing
we watched it as the light went out
The evening faded into night
as it crept in from the west
A perfect spectacle for us
on the beach where it is best

As it waves a fond farewell
