I haven’t written a limerick in a long time. I had been writing political limericks during and soon after the 2016 election, but I was overwhelmed by the change in the political climate and the events that came with it. I couldn’t keep up with it. And, I felt that it might even be dangerous to continue. You never know who is reading them and keeping score.
At last, it’s over;
We voters made our choices.
Now a new day “Don”s.
And so the people have spoken.
“Fix it. We think it’s broken.”
Now what will Trump do?
Let’s hope he has a clue….
And his promises made weren’t just token.
For those of us in the U.S.:
It’s election day.
One will win, the others lose.
Up to us to choose.
I have been off the limerick trail for a while, even though the campaign trail is a gold mine for material. However, I have not found this to be an election that I wanted to write jokes about. It is, seriously, not a joking matter. I have never seen an election like this and, God willing, I will not see another one like it.
