I wrote this tweet on July 6 and the original limerick on August 28. I hope that I am not going to be right about this; sadly, it looks like I am.

If you think Trump will concede, you’re dreaming.
His narcistic egomania is teeming.
I think we all know
How Trump’s going to go…
And that will be kicking and screaming!

This election has been one for the ages…and I am sure that regardless of what side you were on, it aged you. I know it aged me!
The election’s been anything but fun,
Now the process is under the gun.
Before it’s put to bed,
Like the Gambler sort of said…
There’ll be time enough for counting when the voting’s done.

Trump and Biden may be done debating,
But it’s not the end of name calling and baiting.
We’re now at the stage,
Where there’s more lies and rage….
And Trump ramps up racism and hating.

I’ve spent way too much time watching the news,
And I’m petrified that America could choose
A racist arrogant putz
It’s all making me nuts….
On pins and needles and now pills and booze.

I wrote the original limerick and post on February 7, 2017. It was in response to a MSNBC blog post – Trump wants to be seen as the sole authority for truth.

Trump announced that he is willing to spend his own money on the presidential campaign. “Whatever it takes. We have to win. This is the most important election in the history of our country,” he said. That may be the only thing that he has said about the campaign that is true. It certainly is the most important election in the history of the country for him.

Political Lobbies and Lobbyists weren’t enough for an economy built on corporate profits. With greed as the fundamental ideology of the American economic system, Corporate America raised the stakes in the game with Citizens United. However, Citizens United, in their smug arrogance, intoxicated on their “money power”, seems to have forgotten that two can play the game, and that there are super rich in America on both sides and super rich that bribe both sides.

I was writing political limericks during and soon after the 2016 election, but I was overwhelmed by the change in the political climate and the events that came with it. I couldn’t keep up with it. And, I felt that it might even be dangerous to continue. You never know who is reading them and keeping score.
