The Debt Slave

The hole was dug before you were born
The system was geared to keep you down
To earn your share of wheat and corn
You will toil and in your own sweat drown
Inflating the cost of a loaf of bread
So your stomach will never be full
To afford a roof over your head

Of the soft lavender glow that bathes the land
