Of sunsets and supermoons

I found a freedom at sunset today
went out for a ride on my bike
Not many cars on the roads still of course
so I could go wherever I liked

A cracking way to start the day
riding along the beach
The sea deep blue reflecting sky
and there in easy reach

Part of me would love to stop
jump in and have a swim
But I really need to get to work
and get some hours in

Riding with seagulls

I’m riding with seagulls
down here on the beach
as they fly alongside me
just out of reach
It’s like swimming with dolphins
just as wonderful and
the only change is that
I’m still on the land

Turning wheels

Now that it’s full summer
and Southern Rail has lost the plot
I thought I’d get back on the bike
and cycle whilst it’s hot
I leave in early morning
when the dawn has just arrived
and everything is quiet
and the peace is not contrived.

As day begins to wane
I cycle Springbrook Park
where even in the cloudless heat
the wind always seems to blow
