It’s not fair it’s a shame
Christmas has come and gone again.
I am cold and put on weight
Eating all those chocolates I normally HATE!
The holly has all gone from the halls,
And some one broke my favourite balls!
There is a bit of Christmas tree
Stuck up the most embarrassing PART OF ME.!!

Poetry challenge: Christmas poem.
.
I drink Rose.
I don’t care who you tell.
Warm cordials of blackberry indigo;
the expensive flutes
come out of the cupboard; apple cider, warm
cocoa, champagne
that wanes
with the wintry night.

Poetry challenge: Christmas poem.

For some there is steaming hot turkey,
aromatic stuffing, golden roast potatoes,
colourful cooked veges and thick savoury gravy –
comfort food to warm girls and fellows
celebrating Christmas in winter.

I can’t wait to be back home
where the cold mingles with the dawn
and water drips delicately down the pane
catching the chilled air that still smiles
with the sunshine –
it has no aching bones.

FOR THE CHRITMAS POETRY CHALLENGE.
Submitted by Elaine’s Bloggers Paradise
Fairy on the Christmas tree please grant a special wish for me
May I have a drum, a red car and a big lolly pop tree
I have been good this year doing lots of reading and writing
I’ve been a martyr at school, hardly done any fighting
My sister is easy she wants a pram and a dolly that cries

Beneath the sparkling surface
Under festive ribbons and bows
Behind stockings hung with care
Lurks another side to Christmas
Filled with despair

Picked on ribbon tone rivets
To march on the criss cross servant holiday
Crushed crystals disposed of in bubbling gas water
An altar sugar sweet crackling money pot
Full of deep desire and wished on treats
Craving shaken tear spreading raven coloured tunnel
Cheap trick for magician on the hock for a star turn angel

Poetry challenge: Christmas poem.

A sobering thought
Can I ask your indulgence for just a mo?
and to picture a scene with me?
It’s cold and it’s started snowing
And down there, close to the sea
There’s an empty bus shelter and an old cardboard box
And a man on a bench looking grim
Do you remember that day when you were shopping in town
Can you not remember him?

Poetry Challenge: Christmas poem.
Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men
Crystal white in starlight’s gaze that peaks between the falling snow,
whispers sweet a Christmas song, upon a rhythm deep and slow…
It gathers in the spirit, resounds within the soul,
builds to bring a chorus strong of peace in phrases sweet and whole…
of peace on earth, good will toward men.

Christmas Poem: Challenge

Shush, the hour is late and it’s time for bed.
I’ll tuck you in, plant a kiss on your head.
Once again, you protest, and beg to wait,
to see the old man in the big red coat,
but settle for cookies left with a note.

Christmas poem: Challenge.
Here’s a tweaked version of ( a night before Christmas ) to make a sailor its central figure:
T’was the night before Christmas, the ship was out steaming,
Sailors stood watch while others were dreaming.
They lived in a crowd with racks tight and small,
In a 80-man berthing, cramped one and all.
I had come down the stack with presents to give,
And to see inside just who might perhaps live.
I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stockings were hung, shined boots close at hand,
On the bulkhead hung pictures of a far distant land.

Christmas poem: Challenge.
This poem was written by a British Peacekeeping soldier stationed overseas.
T’WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE,
MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.
I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY,
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO,
IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE.
I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.
NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES,
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.
