People are searching for peace and fulfillment. In my opinion, there is only one place from which peace comes and that is from reading the Word at the Father’s feet. “In the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace. Troubles vanish, hearts are mended, in the presence of the King.” This line is from a song sung by Damaris

The last few years have been strangely visited by the passing of so many friends, their parents, their spouses, their children, their best lifelong friends. When you go through such a loss it helps knowing you have friends, family, and God to turn to when the pain is overwhelming and just too much to bear. However, there are many lonely nights where it is just you and God, sharing the burden of loss.
My Heart Hurts
Waking up this morning with life’s plans rolling along.
With children, family, and friends in their places where they belong.
Hearing that my cousin has cancer drove me to my knees in pain.
My friend called to say her granddaughter has a tumor on her brain.

You own a holy fork with seven tines.
The winged lion of Saint Michael meets with you
at the marina every Monday through Friday in the form of the sea. You say
that whatever is out there is in the little things,
and is not concerned with money or fame or how much you know.
You say to understand I must watch the grass grow:
It performs this one single act its whole life. See?

When you lay your heart out, open in your hands in front of you to share, hoping that by sharing, another’s pain is diminished. Somehow by being closer to love shared by knowing the heart of Jehovah God, then maybe, just maybe, healing will begin in those small pieces of pain shared.

An Angel, A Heart, A Christmas Prayer
Often I sit and wonder of knowing a mother’s love for a child.
Thoughts and emotions taunt of wanting ever to be bequiled

I’ve made a resolution
I think you’ll be impressed
I’m going to take a step of faith
And slowly get undressed
Removing things that I’ve accrued
The baggage I’ve amassed
The trappings gained from sources wide
The weight of which is vast.

Let go without despised,
I know I can’t change anyone.
Let go without apathetic,
I respect we are different.
Let go without hopeless,
I declare He is in control.

You sit in your museum
Surrounded by the past
You know the service off by heart
And how long it will last
You’re there to do your duty
Dwelling in the peace
Of knowing that the chance of change
Is almost obsolete.

When you’re deep in the mire
And you start to perspire
The devil is laughing at you
You have gone your own way
Now you’re starting to pay
And there doesn’t seem any way through.

I look in the mirror and what do I see
Your ageing creation, reflecting at me
A mask that is hiding the truth of my being
Am I the person you think you are seeing?
The Spirit is in there, doing His best
To clean up the years of unholy mess

Do not take this personally
But you are rather strange
You go to church each Sunday
And give Him all your change
Cos money is your stronghold
You measure out your pence
Believing that your earthly pile
To you makes better sense.

Let go of the bank, my friend
Float out in the stream
It’s time to trust another One
To help fulfil your dream
Your burdens weigh down heavily
Upon your aching back
Let Him wash them all away
And put you back on track.

You get up in the morning
Your face is lined and creased
You daren’t look in the mirror
It’s the sight you most like least
Your mouth is dry and smelly
Your body feels it’s age
Remember, God still loves you
You’re written on His page.

If you understood the ceaseless love
I have in My heart for you
Love that forgives so many things
Through Jesus that I view
Then you would know that I chose you
With all the faults you carry
You are the one whom I adore
With you I want to tarry.

I don’t deserve to be the one
Who Jesus died to save
I don’t deserve to be the one
Who Christ took to the grave
Then He rose to give me life
A wretched soul like me
Why did He go through all that pain
Just to set me free.

What Jesus Sees
*
I so dislike worms.
I just tried to step on one.
It slithered away.
As I frowned, so disgusted,
I spotted a butterfly . . .
