Exuberance of cheer

by Jem Croucher
Sunshine returned, it's cooler now
but the beach beckoned silent to me
and I heard its voice and quickened to that
with a wander down to the sea
Catching again the glimmer out there
as the sun on the water it shone
reminded me that these moments in time
need capturing lest they are gone

Morning Sunshine

by Jem Croucher
Sunshine of a morning
from my window up here high
shining on the hilltops
as the early birds go by
It's great to see it every day
it seems this summer here
as it brings a peaceful feeling
and fills my heart with cheer

A revitalisation of cheer

by Jem Croucher
Hiding in long shadows
of a small gig still I stood
listening to the music
but wishing that I could
find there the enjoyment
that my friends and others there
clearly understood as in
the moment there they shared

Yet despite the disappointment
in the long shadows here with me
a certain feeling lingered
that I knew with certainty
Said I was meant to be here
as this venue and this place
was testament and evidence
of promise born from grace

Springtime Renewal

by Colly

Tiny, Minuscule flowers –

a pale blue with centered, yellow hue.

Blithe – meander through garden’s bloom.

Lifting II

by Jem Croucher

I’m thinking of a song I heard
one that brought a grin
for that is what I need right now
with the state I’m in
I’m trying hard, don’t get me wrong
and I know I’m not alone
as there are many others out there
who like me must stay at home
But it’s hard remaining positive
so I need a helping hand
provided by a favourite song
sung by a favourite band

Humbling pride and cheer

by Jem Croucher

Someone I have never met
humbled me today
posted comment on my blog
with what they had to say

Tears they trickled as I read
with joy and pleasure there
And the tugging of my heartstrings
was way beyond compare

Of Writers and Readers 1

by Jem Croucher

Part 1 of 3

Cathartic the writing
the pen to the page
Words from the poet
the seer and sage
To capture life’s moments
like a photograph here
And bring to the reader
a little more cheer

Giggle and cheer

by Jem Croucher

To Alcampo for brunch
with the family in tow
London Road, Brighton
devoid now of snow

Good conversation
Flat whites and beer
A nice place to come
for a giggle and cheer

Pixelated Smile

by Jem Croucher

On Rose Hill Close in Brighton
on the corner by the wall
A pixelated smiley face
colourful but small
we spied as we were waiting
for the traffic lights to change
Not something you see every day
it really was quite strange

Springtime Cheer

It’s in my garden again
the yellow that speaks of the sun
Forsythia glory shouting aloud
that Springtime has begun

Another day of summer

by Jem Croucher

There may have been a touch
of Autumn in the air
as it started pretty chilly
with my arms, as usual, bare
But when the sun came out
from behind the Eastern sky
it rapidly got warmer
promising another high

Time these past two years
has meant we’ve only used it twice

Music my passion

by Jem Croucher

Spent a day listening to music
Tunes from across many years
Some which brought a smile to my face
And others which brought a few tears

There were spine tingling moments in there
And times when I jumped to my feet
To dance a while round the living room
When impossible to stay in my seat
