Sunset

by Jem Croucher
Through the trees of an evening
the delight of the gold
as the sunset descends once again
and this moment divine
which is wholly mine
is comforting like an old friend

SDW (South Downs Way)

by Jem Croucher
The South Downs Way
my favourite trail
so as moments come
I'll oft regale
the pleasure I derive from this
just walking here
my perfect bliss

Beach bliss

by Jem Croucher
I'm on the beach again
surprising I'd say
as it's lovely down here
on this fine summer day
and although it's a weekday
you'd have thought that some might
venture down to the beach
to enjoy the sunlight

New Lavender II

by Jem Croucher
I bought some new lavender
and new earthenware pots
to place out the front
with the best sunshine spots
I hope it does well
and adds to the joy
that lavender brings me
(let's not be coy)
for its fragrance divine
when it's growing like this
is my form of heaven
and takes me to bliss

Perfect bliss

by Jem Croucher

The autumn carpet
starts to lay
on this fine Lincoln
autumn day
Gold beneath
my crunching feet
as I go walking
life is sweet

Autumnal Sun

by Jem Croucher

I went back to the beach
though the summer was done
But there was still a warmth
in the autumnal sun
The sea was the same
with the waves a deep blue
reflecting the sky
with its colour and hue

Bliss III

by Jem Croucher

Watching as the sun goes down
on beach huts in a row
Catching the last rays
as in Western skies quite slow
it settles on another day
and evening time comes in
with golden glow to capture
the shadows lengthening

Bliss by the water

by Jem Croucher

Down by the waterside
in April sunshine
In the city of Bristol
with weather so fine

There’s history here
from when I was a boy
I’m re-visiting now
with an aim to enjoy

Sunshine yellow

by Jem Croucher

20160813_120237

The beds were full of yellow dahlias
in the churchyard yesterday
Looking lovely in the sunshine
as we paused along the way
We sat and had a coffee
and admired the glorious scene
Quite the most attractive
for a while that there has been

A passionate discovery

by Jem Croucher

20160806_131006

In life I have two passions
which, I’m pleased to say
I’m blessed, as I can oft indulge
in each ‘most every day
One (you’ve guessed) is writing
as these words attest right here
Something that I love to do
and in my life hold dear

Release

by Jem Croucher

A precious thing, the word ‘release’
the art of letting go
finding freedom in the simple things
and practice going slow
Breathing deep the fresh sea air
to capture perfect bliss
Relaxing in these moments
seeing life for what it is

the heat of day slip-slides away
Cooling now, my brow
